Worst case here, Verizon may want to lower the price it pays, or could conceivably walk away from the entire thing. The telecom is taking a closer second look at the massive deal - it stated that it knew nothing of this hack until just before Yahoo notified its user base. This is just more bad news for the Sunnyvale company as it moves closer to its acquisition by Verizon. Initially it had stated it was discovered in a recent investigation. According to Re/Code, "Yahoo said in a regulatory filing that it had knowledge for two years that a 'state-sponsored actor' was hacking into its system." Indeed, the entire story broke late in September, but in its filing from Wednesday (coincidentally released the same day as election results), Yahoo acknowledged that the company knew of the hack in late 2014. Here’s where R6 Extraction goes downhill. You wouldn’t want to pick another scout when your team already has one so choose wisely. One thing to put in mind is each Operator has their own stats and perks, so choosing the right Operator for the job is a must, adding another layer of tactics during the picking phase. Tt’s precise and bound from that Siege formula where unnecessary noise that you make will attract enemies, forcing you to be calculated and tactical during missions, as one wrong move can alert the whole swarm and overwhelm your squad, especially in higher difficulties. One of the things that I enjoyed in R6 Extraction is the feel of shooting. I personally find this concept interesting since it forces you to learn and try other Operators instead of just playing your main character, leading you to be more versatile when it comes to your team comp, although they don’t feel too different when it comes to gameplay except with their perks. You can still deploy the same Operator with the HP penalty, but considering how brutal the difficulty could get, you might be risking them to get incapacitated. But the game does force you to not stick to a specific Operator depending on how much damage you took from a mission - that operator will be injured and will receive an HP penalty that carries on to the next deployment. This leads to some interesting times where you don’t want to invest too much time leveling up a specific operator in case they go down, whether it’s being unlucky or your team of randoms decided to leave you behind (it happens). This is because when an Operator gets incapacitated or left behind during the extraction, that Operator will be covered by protective mustard and is considered MIA, and you won’t be able to pick the same Operator until you save them during a Salvage mission in the same area. But each time you proceed to the next zone, the difficulty gets higher, so try to consider the status of the team before proceeding. What makes the whole mission structure of Extraction interesting is each time you finish an objective, you and your team have the option to pull out early from the zone and reap the rewards, or push through to the zone and finish it and get bigger rewards. There are lots of mission that vary from Escort, stealth kill a target, activating computers, Salvage mission, or Eliminating a boss creature it’s all random and can be brutal, especially when paired with randoms, making it quite challenging. You have the option of going alone and choosing which hot zone you will go to or getting matched with two other players, and you’ll be deployed on a random hot zone. In Extraction, missions come in a multi-part sequence of objectives divided into three different zones. What I find frustrating about these enemies is their inconsistency during missions (which we will get to later). Some say they look generic, but for me, they look fine, and they even remind me of the enemies from Prototype. The mold monsters the Archaean will tear you apart and maybe take you on their nest to be absorbed and be part of their crew. The last time we had a mold problem in a video game was from Resident Evil 7, and from that experience, this is not the friendly kind. Have you ever heard this joke about the forgotten food in the fridge that started to grow mold and will eventually have a life of its own? It turns out molds do grow life, at least in the R6 Extraction universe. But currently, don’t expect much from Rainbow Six Extraction story and stick to its gameplay. ![]() If you were wondering why Extraction suddenly shifted to a Sci-Fi shooter, the whole plot was based on a past in-game event, which is nice since they tried to expand it as a spin-off entry. ![]() Although I never took Rainbow Six as a franchise that focused on its in-game lore or world-building, maybe this is Ubisoft’s attempt at venturing into new territory for the whole Rainbow Six franchise so they have a lot of work to do when combining the gameplay and storytelling. This makes the story part of the game less engaging and a bit bleak in terms of context all we know is “alien bad shoot’em”. Cutscenes do exist, but they are fairly short, and I admit I can’t feel any tension or urgency of the situation based on how each cutscene was presented (most of it were recorded messages). ![]() Extraction’s plot has little context on the events of the game, just like what little we know about the invaders, so from what I just said above, that’s everything that the story offers, with just a few bits of dialogue scattered from the maps and research entries in the menu. ![]() When MOS Technology released its $20 (equivalent to $95 in 2021) 6502 chip in 1976, Wozniak wrote a version of BASIC for it, then began to design a computer for it to run on. So he watched, and learned, and designed computers on paper, waiting for the day he could afford a CPU. Wozniak preferred the 6800, but both were out of his price range. At the time the only microcomputer CPUs generally available were the $179 Intel 8080 (equivalent to $901 in 2021), and the $170 Motorola 6800 (equivalent to $856 in 2021). New microcomputers such as the Altair 8800 and the IMSAI 8080 inspired Wozniak to build a microprocessor into his video terminal circuit to make a complete computer. In 1975, the two Steves started attending meetings of the Homebrew Computer Club. Roszak offers a bit of background on the development of the two Steves' prototype models. In his essay From Satori to Silicon Valley (published 1986), cultural historian Theodore Roszak made the point that Apple Computer emerged from within the West Coast counterculture and the need to produce print-outs, letter labels, and databases. Aside from their interest in up-to-date technology, the impetus for the two Steves seems to have had another source. Alex Kamradt commissioned the design and sold a small number of them through his firm. Wozniak designed a video terminal that he could use to log on to the minicomputers at Call Computer. Jobs later told his biographer that if it hadn't been for Wozniak's blue boxes, "there wouldn't have been an Apple." īy 1972, Jobs had withdrawn from Reed College and Wozniak from UC Berkeley. Jobs managed to sell some two hundred blue boxes for $150 each, and split the profit with Wozniak. Wozniak started to build his original “ blue boxes”, which he tested by calling the Vatican City pretending to be Henry Kissinger wanting to speak to the pope. Their first business partnership began in the fall of that year when Wozniak, a self-educated electronics engineer, read an article in Esquire magazine that described a device that could place free long-distance phone calls by emitting specific tone chirps. This is another solution along with UPnP to stream wireless HD audio with Audirvna. I uninstalled and reinstalled Audirvana but still no sound. Audirvna now integrates Google cast wireless protocol also known as Chromecast and can send audio to any compatible device in lossless quality up to 96kHz / 24bits. Cabling is all good (itunes plays through the DAC). I have made sure that the midi output is the DAC (TEAC), the sound parameters show the output is the DAC, I have exited from itunes and BitPerfect, the Audirvana is in exclusive mode but the DAC shows no input. The song is playing according to the progress bar but no output to DAC. However, you can route iTunes music to another output at the same time, such as an HDMI output or an AirStream connection. ITunes plays but when I switch to Audirvana no sound comes out and the DAC does not show any input as it does with iTunes. Unless one is willing to do bit level comparisons of the player outputs when rendering the same level matched audio, people saying this and that about the sound quality is just an opinion. I restored a back up of itunes albums (2000+) to a new hard drive. I recently also had my 2 RAID1 drives fail. I recently had to replace my MacMini and now have a 2018 version. So if the upcoming Audirvana Plus 2.0 retains that superior sound quality, AND it solves the library management performance issues that have driven me away from considering the player, then I will definitely give the free trial a chance, and if it turns out to work then it may be the one that finally earns the 75 or so out of my bank account. The reason for switching away from my USB DAC to optical out is when I route my sound output through it using Airplay and ITunes only I get a sync problem due to latency issues. I mostly listen to HD tracks downloaded or ripped CDs but still have quite a lot of AAC stuff that I added to iTunes through the years. Which I am sure is not the situation Damian is priorising.Ĭurrently when I want to go multi room I quit Audirvana, switch to optical out in preferences, switch the airplay device on in iTunes which is a pain. no problems playing anything from the iTines library through Audirvana +. It’s good enough for me when I go multi room though, as I am normally cooking or parenting etc so it’s more about having a nice vibe in the flat than the best quality I can get. Total cost, including Sonarworks, is about 330 euro. Yeah it’s a real shame but I guess this use case is not at the top of the priority list, which I can understand.Īirplay is 16/44.1 so a step down in the quality I am getting through my main system. ![]() ![]() They were the heavy-hitters in the franchise. The Cyclops had been a part of the GoW series since the very first game. Another character from history would have also had a bigger role. The engineer wasn’t the only person that was left on the cutting room floor. Before he was turned into a mummified corpse the team at Sony Santa Monica had plans for giving him a cut scene in GoW Ascension. He had engineered the mechanisms that kept the Methana Volcano from erupting, as well as the pumps that made Atlantis the masters of water. We had actually seen the work of Archimedes previously in the Ghost of Sparta. His type of genius wouldn’t be seen for another 1700 years when Leonardo DaVinci was born in another small town in Italy. He discovered formulas for geometry that were still taught to this day. He created new ways to pump water, and grain uphill. He mastered the lever, and perfected compound pulleys for moving heavy objects. He was a world renown philosopher, engineer, inventor, physicist, and mathematician. The first of these was Archimedes.Īrchimedes was born in Syracuse, Italy in 287 B.C. I have a feeling this might have been the case when we look at some of the characters that were planned to have much bigger roles in Ascension, including dialogue. Perhaps it would have visited some of the multiplayer sites. I don’t know if the co-op mode was going to share the story, and locations of the main game. The studio wanted to create a co-op adventure as well. They delivered on both counts, but the third goal for the game was dropped due to time, and budget constraints. They also wanted to create an Online Multiplayer mode. They wanted to create a single player adventure, in the vein of the classic GoW titles. Don’t tire yourself out by fighting the waves and master the duck dive or turtle roll. No wave is going to be perfect and it might take dozens of waves to pass before finding the one right for you. Continue to paddle and repeat the process until you find the next wave you want to ride!.Once the wave passes by, roll back upwards and reposition yourself to the center of the board. You want to flip yourself underwater just before it hits you. Keeping your elbows bent, grabbing the rails of the board.Start perpendicular to the incoming wave.If your board is too buoyant to duck dive with, we have another method for you to try out - the turtle roll! This method is a bit more technical, so be 100% sure you can’t duck dive before trying the turtle roll! WHAT IF MY BOARD IS TOO BIG TO DUCK DIVE WITH? This should be one natural, fluid motion that you shouldn’t have to think about when the time comes!Īnd of course, it's always good to take advice from the best! World champion surfer Kelly Slater goes into some detail about duck diving here. You can just as easily apply this method in still water. Practice makes perfect, and by no means do you have to experiment on waves to try this method. Make sure you know how it feels in the water, how to position yourself properly, and how easily you can get your board to go underwater. We highly recommend knowing the ins and outs of your board. Since the buoyancy of the board does a lot of the work pulling you up, you can get some immediate momentum after you surface. One trick experienced bodyboarders do is immediately start paddling after they submerge. Doing so should naturally bring the tail up as well. Once the wave has passed, tilt the nose upward. If any part of the board is sticking above the water at this point, it will slow you down as you are trying to dive.īring yourself to the board closely and point your body downwards so that you can get some depth under the wave. Using either your foot or knee, whichever is more comfortable, put pressure on the tail end so that the entire board is submerged. The nose should be going underwater before the tail. Once the wave is close, prepare yourself by putting a downward pressure on the board, lowering your head and shoulders. To start the dive, you want to grab both side rails of your board with your elbows bent at a 90 degree angle, while waiting for the impact of the wave. Not sure what type of swim fins to get? This guide will help. You can speed up your paddling by using swim fins. Always paddle towards them! The quicker you paddle, the easier it will be to dive under. You never want to wait on the waves to come to you. This can ruin your experience if you keep getting crashed on, and tire you out quicker while searching for the best wave.ĭon’t worry, we will take you through the steps so that you can effortlessly power through and catch more waves. The reality, unfortunately, is that the ocean is a dangerous environment with waves coming in all directions and sizes. ![]() Only after you are finished with that one wave will another form. ![]() In a perfect scenario, there is only one wave to catch. Okay, it's not a bodyboard, but the concept is similar!ĭuck diving is not only a way of evasion, but it is also a safety measure. The second method is what we are going for! Just like you can avoid waves by swimming underneath them, you can do the same with a bodyboard. To avoid this, swimmers do either one of two things: When you go swimming in the ocean, it’s all fun and games until you get crashed on by a wave. Duck diving is an essential skill for all bodyboarders to know and you most likely have already been doing it without realizing! You are probably wondering, “ Why would my goal as a bodyboarder ever be to go underwater?”. If it’s your first time bodyboarding, you may think your goal is to stay above water the whole time, but in certain situations, it's quite the opposite. |
